Lucas Digne appears to confirm withdrawal from French squad after suffering injury on international duty

Lucas Digne has appeared to confirm his withdrawal from France's international squad this weekend.

Reports yesterday suggested the French full-back had suffered an injury in training and the Everton star was conspicuous in his absence on Friday evening as Didier Deschamps' men dispatched Moldova 4-1.

Digne played no part in the fixture and was not even named on the substitutes bench.

On Saturday afternoon, however, the former Barcelona left-back posted on social media to say: "Very happy with yesterday's result but disappointed not to be able to continue on this gathering."

He will now miss France's second qualifier against Gylfi Sigurdsson's Iceland on Monday night and could return to Everton early for treatment.

Marco Silva will hope the 25-year-old is fit to face West Ham next weekend when the Toffees head to London.
