Liverpool’s celebrated Gemini ABC added another national title to its impressive roll call of honours last weekend, when Lucas Biswana became the National Junior Cadet 60kg Champion at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.
On Saturday Lucas outpointed Ronnie Nickolds of Hoddesdon Boxing Club in his semi- final then on Sunday outpointed Ellis Myers from Phil Thomas Boxing Club.
He put in two excellent performances over the two days to beat two very good former national champions to claim a fully deserved title.
Lucas’ performances have been virtually flawless throughout this championships.
Merseyside also celebrated three finalists at the Championships.
In the Junior Cadets’ Male Under 46kg category Sefton’s Harry Burke was outpointed by Sam Varey of Trowbridge, while Shaun Barkbakis suffered the cruel misfortune to lose a tight split decision to GR’s Danny Boardman in the Male Under 48kg category.
Kirkdale ABC’s Khalid Saleh was the region’s fourth finalist, losing his Male Under 46kg final on points to Blu Bowers of Pinewood ABC.
