Lucan shooting victim made incredible escape after being blasted with 10 bullets

A man made an incredible escape after a brazen hit team blasted ten bullets through his windscreen in West Dublin.

Gardai swarmed Griffeen Glen Park in Lucan on Wednesday after the man managed to crawl out of the driver seat and escape to a nearby house.

The callous gang made their getaway in a van which was found engulfed in a blaze a few hundred yards away moments later.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and gardai sealed off the area at around 2pm.

Incredibly, the victim, who is now in a critical condition in Connolly Hospital, was sitting up and conscious while being put in the ambulance.

The victim, 42, is known to gardai and had been under threat for a number of months.

A source said: "He's been living in the area for about 13 years and is well known.

"Over the last while he was always wearing bullet proof vests and he never went into the park area on his own."

The scene of the shooting was just metres away from Griffeen Valley Park where notorious Mark 'The Guinea Pig' Desmond was gunned down in 2016.
