Legendary Celtic playmaker Lubo Moravcik has opened up on being sacked by Slovakian club FC Nitra, suggesting they treated him like a "stray dog".
The gifted playmaker became a Hoops hero after being snapped up by Dr Jo Venglos for just £300,000 at the age of 33 from German side Duisburg.
He helped Celtic win a treble and won a place in the hearts of Celtic fans before finally leaving for Japan in 2002.
His double against Rangers in a shock 5-1 victory in 1998 made him an immediate fans favourite, a position he retains to this day.
The 54-year-old won a combined 80 caps for Czechoslovakia and Slovakia before hanging up his boots at hometown club FC Nitra.
Moravcik was back at his last club as head of youth development and a director, but was stunned when he was axed after the club got new Ukrainian owners.
Moravcik said: "I received a letter from the new owners that I was no longer needed because of the coronavirus crisis.
"They threw me out on the street like a stray dog.
"Perhaps I'm just not cut out for football in Slovakia. I've got other businesses I can run here, but I wasn't treated with any respect by Nitra."
Moravcik, 54, won five major trophies in his spell at Parkhead - two league titles, two League Cups and a Scottish Cup triumph in 2001.
