Luas track accident leaves young cyclist seriously injured

A woman was rushed to hospital after an incident on the Luas tracks in Dublin city centre.

The cyclist, aged in her 20s, was seriously injured after a collision on the track at Dawson Street last night.

Emergency services sealed off the road and Luas services between St Stephen's Green and O'Connell Street Upper were stopped as they tended to the woman.

She was later taken to St James’ Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

The road has since been reopened.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision on Dawson Street in Dublin, yesterday evening, September 28, 2021.

"The single-vehicle collision, involving a bicycle, occurred at approximately 8.25pm.

"The cyclist, a woman aged in her 20s, was later taken to St James’ Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

"The road was closed for a short period but has since re-opened."
