Luas green line service disruption expected to continue until Sunday morning

Service disruption to the Luas green line is expected to continue overnight until Sunday morning.

A major power failure at Stillorgan has left commuters with no service between Balally and Brides Glen today.

And now Luas operators have said that there are a number of faults and normal service won't continue until tomorrow morning.

There's been a limited tram service operating between Broombridge and Balally today and that's going to continue for the remainder of the evening.

In a statement, Luas operators Transdev said: "Due to a power failure at Stillorgan there are no Luas services running between Balally and Brides Glen. A number of faults have been identified and it will therefore take time to rectify the service.

"It has been decided that normal service will not resume in the area until tomorrow morning, Sunday the 29th of December, in order to allow our maintenance teams to resolve the issue as safely and in as timely a manner as possible."

For those affected by the Luas service disruption, tickets are being accepted on Dublin Bus services.

There's also an alternative bus service serving stops between Brides Glen and Balally.

They continued: "There is a limited tram service operating between Broombridge and Balally with a frequency of every 8-10 minutes.

"Luas tickets will be accepted on Dublin Bus services. An alternative bus service is serving affected stops between Brides Glen and Balally.

"We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused."
