Luas forced to stop at Cabra after gang of young thugs hurl rocks at the windows

A Luas was brought out of service after a gang of young thugs flung rocks at the train, damaging the windows.

The train was heading to Cabra from Bloombridge this afternoon when the gang struck.

One passenger said the thugs looked around 12 years old. He told Dublin Live: "I heard loud bangs, looked out and saw about 6-8 young kids across the train tracks throwing things."

The shocking photo shows the damage some of the windows suffered from the barrage of rocks: "There were other, similar, cracks further up the line.

"The security guard who was already on the Luas then walked up the tram & told everyone that the train would be out of service from the Cabra stop and we’d all have to get off."

Dublin Live has contacted Transdev Ireland, which operates the Luas network, for a comment.
