LT Laremy Tunsil would have traded himself considering Texans’ terms

The Miami Dolphins didn’t initially intend on trading left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans. But, when they got an offer that even Tunsil couldn’t resist, they pulled the trigger.

Houston sent Miami two first-round selections, a 2021 second-round pick, cornerback Johnson Bademosi and tackle Julie’n Davenport for Tunsil, wide receiver Kenny Stills, a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2021 sixth-round pick.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, when Tunsil saw the terms on the board, he joked, “I would trade me for that.”

In the long run, Miami traded Tunsil for that massive trade haul as their long-term plans seem to be without having a franchise 25-year-old left tackle. Instead, it’s all about draft picks; as indicated by more than the Tunsil trade (see: defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick to Pittsburgh for a 2020 first-round pick).

Tunsil won’t have to be worried about being traded anytime soon, as Houston’s historic trade to acquire him shows he’ll be Deshaun Watson’s blindside protector for a long time.
