LT Isaiah Wynn returns to Patriots practice in Week 9

New England Patriots left tackle Isaiah Wynn has returned to Patriots practice, according to reporters. Wynn started the season as a starter, but dealt with a toe injury that landed him on injured reserve.

The Patriots had perfect attendance on Wednesday’s practice.

NFL teams are allowed to bring two players back from injured reserve during 2019. Wynn is the second and final player, with receiver N’Keal Harry returning to practice in Week 6. Wynn can practice for the next three weeks, but must miss eight games (per IR-return rules), which means (with the bye in Week 10) he won’t play until Week 12, at the earliest. Harry, meanwhile, is eligible to play in this week’s game. No other players will be eligible to return from IR.

The Patriots drafted Wynn 23rd overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve in 2018 with an Achilles injury. If he returns to the Patriots’ 53-man roster, he is likely to retake his starting job, which would supplant veteran Marshall Newhouse.

Bill Belichick and offensive line coach Danta Scarnecchia have been clearly displeased with the play of the offensive line.

“We have to do things better. I have to coach better. I have to coach a lot better than I’ve been coaching, so I’d start with that, and we have to do things a lot better than we’ve been doing,” Scarnecchia told reporters Monday. “I have to coach better. I know what I really believe in, and we’re not seeing enough of what I believe in out there, so I’m not getting my message across. I think I have to do a lot better job than what I’ve been doing. I’ll just leave it at that.”
