Why Northwestern State Will Win
Will LSU take the week off after the Texas game and before starting up the SEC season against Vanderbilt?
The Demons have struggled a wee bit so far – to be nice – with little passing game and without enough scoring punch to hold up past the first quarter. However, that’s if LSU cares about trying.
The Tigers are going to want to get out of this as soon as possible, and that means it’ll press right away to try hitting a few home runs to get the starters on the bench. But Northwestern State has just enough of a secondary to not get ripped up, and the run defense hasn’t been too bad. There’s enough quickness to get to Joe Burrow just enough to be a nuisance.
Why LSU Will Win
The Demons won’t score unless something quirky happens.
Northwestern State’s passing game can’t do much down the field – averaging under eight yards per completion – and the receiving corps is about to be shut down cold.
No, the LSU intensity level won’t be set past 2, but after getting ripped up by Sam Ehlinger and Texas, at least for a half, the secondary is going to want to get its groove back. Even in a throwaway game like this, staying sharp will matter.
More than that, even though the two schools are 180 miles apart, there are plenty of friends across both teams. LSU will care more than it normally would about a game like this.

What’s Going To Happen
Get in, hang up a ton of points in the first half, and sit everyone down. There’s enough to work on to make LSU try a wee bit, but more than anything else, the key is to keep everyone in one piece. The backups will get in fast in the second half.
