LSU vs. Clemson Buckeyes Wire national championship game predictions

Yeah, yeah, we’re not an LSU or Clemson fan site. But hey, there’s a big one Monday night and we love football. So even if it’s being played in Alaska in a deep freeze in January we’re game. The national championship game is set to go unhinged in New Orleans Monday night and we’ll be watching and we’re sure you will be too. Unless that is, you’re still being triggered from what happened in the desert on December 28.

And really, who could blame you.

So, like we did during the season with all of the Ohio State contests, we’re opening it up to our contributors to provide their predictions for the national championship game between two dueling Tigers.

And we’re off.

NEXT … The Predictions

Clemson 38, LSU 31

Call me a homer. It’s okay. I still think Ohio State was the better team on December 28, and still think the Buckeyes are the most talented team of the 2019 season. Because of that, and because Clemson was able to matchup fairly well with the Buckeyes, I think people are underestimating the Tigers that don’t call the Bayou their home.

Clemson is a more complete team with a defense that is better than what LSU has fielded all year. I think that makes the difference in a high-scoring affair with plenty of offensive fireworks.

LSU 34, Clemson 28

LSU and Ohio State were the best two teams all year long. And it should be the Buckeyes batteling the Bayou Bengals tonight in The Big Easy (yeah – I’m still bitter). At least we can cheer for Joe Burrow, Buckeye fans. LSU comes out on top and Dabo whines about Clemson getting no respect and how it was unfair to play in LSU’s back yard

LSU 49, Clemson 42

I don’t expect either defense to stop either offense, but LSU gets the ball last and scores with 25 seconds left to win (or thereabouts). I will also openly admit that my pick has a lot to do with the fact that I was born and raised in Southeast Ohio, and I work near Athens County so do this for Southeast Ohio, Joe!
