LSU channels Baker Mayfield by planting flag in Texas’ field

The LSU Tigers laid claim to Austin on Saturday night.

LSU football, ranked No. 6 in the country, defeated the Texas Longhorns, ranked ninth, in a 45-38 thriller. Afterward, the Tigers sunk their flag into the dirt at Texas Memorial Stadium, with sophomore safety Kenan Jones getting the honors. The win was surely a big adrenaline boost for an LSU team with playoff hopes.

This comes two years after former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield planted a Sooners flag in the middle of the field at the Ohio State Buckeyes’ stadium. That was, of course, taken as a huge gesture of disrespect.

At least Jones kept his flag in the end zone?

Surely, the folks in Texas weren’t pleased.
