The LSU Tigers will play for a national championship for the first time since 2011, and with Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow leading the offense, LSU is a 5.5-point favorite over undefeated Clemson, the reigning national champion. LSU fans are expected to pack the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for what may feel like a home game for LSU, as the campus in Baton Rouge is just 80 miles away from New Orleans.
School officials are giving students license to go all out to celebrate the occasion, cancelling classes on Monday and Tuesday to create a four-day weekend. Monday, January 13th was scheduled to be the first official day of classes for the 2020 spring semester.
The scenes in Baton Rouge are going to be epic – but loss to Clemson would make for a painfully quiet Tuesday on campus. LSU’s announcement notes that while classes will be cancelled, the school will still be open for business, so school employees still have to work.
