Louisiana State University banned Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from team facilities for two years, according to a report by SI.com.
Beckham received criticism for handing out $2,000 in cash during the celebration after the Tigers' 42-25 victory over Clemson in the national championship game last January.
Beckham's actions were among the lesser infractions the school acknowledged. According to the report, LSU claimed at first the cash was fake, but the school had to change its stance after then-Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow contradicted that statement during an interview.
In addition to the Beckham infraction, the school admitted to payments from a booster of embezzled funds and a 2019 recruiting contact violation by coach Ed Ogeron.
The move comes as part of the university athletics department's self-imposed penalties ahead of potentially harsher NCAA sanctions. LSU is also giving up eight football scholarships over two years and has agreed to decreased its recruiting activities.
