SAMUT PRAKAN: A tanker truck hauling about 6,000 litres of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) overturned on Bang Na-Trat Road in Bang Phli district on Saturday morning, temporarily halting traffic. No gas leaks were reported.
The 10-wheel vehicle overturned at kilometre maker 18 in tambon Bang Chalong at around 8am, said Pol Capt Pongnarin Nontanok, a duty officer at Bang Phli police station.
Fire trucks and firefighters arrived quickly and police blocked a section of the road for safety. Firefighters sprayed water onto the tank to prevent it from catching fire.
A crane was deployed to lift the tanker from the area in an operation that took more than 30 minutes. Motorists and passers-by breathed a sigh of relief when the road was cleared.
Police said the tanker truck was on the way to deliver gas to customers in Pathum Thani. Officers believe the driver might have dozed off at the wheel, causing the truck to hit a concrete barrier along the road.
