INDORE: Only 21% of targeted adult population turned out at Covid-19 vaccination sites during a mega drive on Monday
In the day, the district reported administration of only 32,000 doses at 273 government sites including 100 in rural areas. The authority had decided to inoculate around 1.5 lakh people with second dose under the mega drive.
District immunisation in charge Dr Tarun Gupta said, “Target could not be achieved due to low turnout. There might be some complacency in people about taking a second dose. Also it is harvesting season, so the drive was affected in rural areas. The district has four rural blocks, where the drive is affected due to it.”
The district, which has around seven lakh due/overdue people for second dose, has been witnessing low turn out for quite some time. During the last mega drive day on September 17, it had achieved only 80% of its target.
The records for the day shows that vaccination drive remained somehow satisfactory for only around four hours from 11am to 3pm, when 5500 doses were administered every hour. It was on the lower side for the rest of the day in a drive beginning at 8am and remaining operational till 6pm. The district has so far administered 44.66 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
