Lower Granton Road incident: Fire service rescue man who slipped and fell from Edinburgh sea wall

A man was rescued by emergency services after slipping on a pavement and falling from the sea wall in the north of Edinburgh.

Emergency services were seen on Lower Granton Road on Wednesday, with the street closed off for several hours.

The man suffered mild  hypothermia after being stuck by the shoreline but was not seriously injured.

The incident came as hit parts of Edinburgh.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said "We were called to an incident at McKelvie cycle path at Lower Granton Road at 5.34pm on Wednesday.

"We mobilised two appliances and a line rescue team who assisted a male who was stuck on the sea wall.

"He was handed to the Scottish Ambulance Service for treatment."

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police in Edinburgh assisted other emergency services in recovering a man from the water at Lower Granton Road at 5.30pm on the 7th of August.

"The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident."
