The NBA trade deadline is now less than 72 hours away as teams across the league explore various ways to improve their team, cut salary, or accomplish any potential franchise goals before the deadline passes on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. EST.
While the Los Angeles Lakers and the rest of the basketball world were rocked by tragedy last week, reports suggest that they are still looking for ways to improve their position as they look to win championship No. 17. The situation, if the Lakers make a move, hasn’t changed much, however. ESPN’s Zach Lowe is the latest to report the Lakers have explored the market for Kyle Kuzma in search of upgrading their ball-handling.
The Lakers have investigated the market on Kyle Kuzma, per sources and prior reports. They have poked around on a long list of ball handlers.
It will be interesting to see if the Lakers attempt to somehow acquire another salary in the $12 million range which they then use in a trade for a higher-priced guy — Iguodala or someone else.
It’s unclear what the Lakers can get for Kuzma and the limited draft assets at their disposal. They don’t have much in terms of draft picks after clearing their coffers for Anthony Davis. Kuzma is by far the most attractive trade piece, but it remains to be seen whether the Lakers can find a deal that gives them the help they need.
