Prisoners in HMP Lowdham are experiencing room service from their cells and being able to chat with fellow inmates.
Without moving from their room, they receive piping hot food and shopping from the prison shop.
The ordering system is through an intercom, which means they can also chat to pals in other cells.
A source said: "There are home comforts at the touch of a button – it’s better than some basic hotels."
Deliveries even include the jail’s acclaimed non-meat grub, including veggie curries and spring rolls and vegan bangers with mash and onion gravy, reports The Mirror.
The in-cell ordering was introduced at the category B prison during the pandemic, to minimise contact between inmates and officers.
Cells at the privately operated jail run by Serco already have TVs.
The Government’s Independent Monitoring Board said: "Several initiatives were trialled including an in-cell messaging service to allow prisoners to contact people on their approved contact list, purchase items from the prison shop, order meals and participate in surveys."
Lowdham’s extensive menu has also been praised by the Vegan Prisoners Support Group.
The shop and canteen at the jail, which has 894 mainly violent offenders, are hooked up to the system so snacks such as crisps and chocolate can be delivered.
Lowdham avoided Covid infections for the first six months of the pandemic but last September 160 staff and 200 inmates were infected.
