MADIKERI: Dasara will be celebrated in a simple manner this year, said Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan on Friday. The delegation of Madikeri Dasara committee met him here requesting to sanction Rs 1 crore to celebrate the festival in a grand manner as last three years celebrations were simple due to natural calamities and Covid pandemic.
However, Ranjan clearly said that he had asked Rs 1 crore from the chief minister, of which Rs 25 lakh will go for Dasara celebrations and the remaining Rs 75 lakh will be spent for road repair. “Because of Covid, the celebration should be restricted and next year it can be celebrated in a grand manner,” he said.
Meanwhile, the final meeting to discuss Dasara celebrations and Cauvery festival celebrations will be held on Saturday evening at Madikeri with Kodagu district minister Kota Srinivas Poojary attending. tnn
