Loving tributes left for 18-year-old 'with heart of gold' killed in motorbike crash

Dozens of loving tributes have been left for a teenager with a "heart of gold" who was killed in a motorbike crash.

Liam Houghton from Rock Ferry, died in hospital following the crash on New Chester Road in Wirral on Friday.

The 18-year-old was riding his motorbike near to the junction of Procter Road shortly before 7.30pm when he was involved in a collision with a silver Mercedes.

He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later.

Paying tribute to Liam, a former cadet, his family described him as a "free spirit" with "a heart of gold".

At the site of the crash, rows and rows of floral tributes were left for the teenager.

An entire lamp post was covered in flowers.

One tribute read: "Liam, we love you forever bro.

"So cruel how you've been taken from us. Watch over us, little bro. We miss you so, so much - more than words can say.

"See you again soon, bro. I hope we do you proud, forever in our hearts."

Another tribute said "we love you for ever".

As well as flowers, mourners left small candles and a picture of the teen in tribute.

In a heartfelt statement, Liam's family said: “Liam was a free spirit, he had a heart of gold and he’d go out of his way to help others.

“He’ll be missed by so many, life will never be the same again our jigsaw will always be missing a piece.

“A much loved son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend has been taken from us far too soon.

"The house feels so quiet and empty without you here with us.”

Sharon Yun wrote: "So sad he had all his life ahead of him. Rest in peace Liam, our thoughts are with the family at this sad time."

And Karen Mckinney said: "Thinking of his family at this very sad time and sending them lost of love. RIP Liam."

Merseyside Police said the driver of the car involved stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
