Loving Theresa May's shoes

Power dressing may be getting a new bounce thanks to Theresa May, who wore her signature kitten-heel, leopard-print shoes Wednesday, her first day as prime minister of the United Kingdom.

May, the second woman to become Britain's prime minister, is a Conservative Party politician who was formerly home secretary. Her colorful choice of footwear hasn't gone unnoticed _ or unphotographed. CNN reported on its website last Tuesday that Google Trends has seen a "spike" in searches for "Theresa May shoes" and "Theresa May fashion." That same day, after it became clear May was the choice to succeed outgoing P.M. David Cameron, The Sun splashed a photo illustration of what it described as her "famous" leopard shoes across its tabloid front page.

"Heel, boys" was the headline. Catchy, certainly, as were the shoes, which were arranged on the page to look as if they rested on the heads of May's male political rivals.

For fashion-conscious women considering their own powerful footwear, we have some suggestions for where to start.
