A mum was " stabbed to death while sat on a sofa", an inquest has heard.
Sukhjeet Uppal, 41, was repeatedly stabbed at her home on September 19, 2021. She tragically died at the scene.
Mrs Uppal's husband Jai Singh, 50, was charged with the Wolverhampton mum's murder, Birmingham Live reports.
However, he died after suffering 'catastrophic brain damage' in prison in January.
A post-mortem examination of his body found that Singh had brain damage, multiple organ failure and suffered a cardiac arrest due to asphyxia.
An inquest into his death heard he was in detention at HMP Birmingham at the time of his death.
Now, an inquest into 41-year-old Mrs Uppal's death was held and area coroner Jo Lees concluded she was unlawfully killed. Her medical cause of death was multiple stab wounds.
The record of inquest states: "On 19/9/21 Mrs Sukhjeet Uppal was at her home address when she was attacked with a knife whilst she was sitting on a sofa. Mrs Uppal was stabbed multiple times by her attacker resulting in injuries that led to her death."
At the time of her death, Mrs Uppal's family paid tribute to " one of the most caring and loving people you could ever meet".
