'Loving husband, son, and devoted dad' killed in motorbike crash on A4042 in Abergavenny

The family of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Abergavenny on Sunday has paid tribute to him as a "loving husband, son, and devoted dad".

Neil Powell, 60, was involved in a crash with a car on the A4042 between the Hardwick roundabout and Llanover at around 3.30pm July 28.

Mr Powell, who was from the Caerphilly area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family said: "Neil Berian Powell was a loving husband, son, and devoted dad, granddad, great-grandfather and father-in-law. He was loved by us all who knew him and will be sadly missed."

Mr Powell, who was a keen biker and passionate Welsh rugby supporter, was a loyal member of St Tyfaelog Church in Pontlottyn where he played the organ for over 30 years.

"Neil will be sadly missed by his work colleagues at the print room in Tredomen, Caerphilly," the family statement added.

A 71-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.

What to do if you're in a crash or have witnessed one

Gwent Police officers and staff from the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the crash.

Police officers are appealing for any drivers using the road around this time to check any dashcam footage they may have that could assist with their inquiries.

Anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 388 of July 28.
