Body found in search for missing Oban cyclist Alex Carter

Police have found a body in the search for missing cyclist, Alex Carter.

The 49-year-old from Oban, was reported missing after he failed to return home from work on Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning the body of a man was found in a wooded area near to Stevenson Street in the town.

The man has not been formally identified.

Officers say Alex's family have been informed as the body is believed to be him.

A spokesperson from the force said: "At around 10am on Wednesday, November 20, the body of a man was found in a wooded area near to Stevenson Street, Oban.

"The man has not yet been formally identified however it is believed to be Alex Carter who had been reported missing in the early hours of today.

"His family have been informed."

Alex was described as a 'keen cyclist' and 'loving family man' who'd 'never gone missing before'.

He was last seen at around 7am on Tuesday after he left his home in Dalintart Drive to go to work.

He didn't return home that evening, sparking a major police search.
