Lovesick Scot sent sick video to ex telling her 'burn baby burn' while threatening to destroy her stuff

A lovesick Scot sent his ex-partner a video threatening to destroy her belongings while standing next to a bin, telling her “burn baby burn”.

Kristofer Howden sent the video to his former girlfriend’s phone as she drank with a pal in a pub.

Howden later messaged her female friend and said: “Don’t get between the woman I love and me right now.”

The 32-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour.

Fiscal depute Ross Price said Howden’s ex was in a bar when she received messages on her mobile.

Mr Price said one was a video which showed Howden “standing over a garden bin and saying ‘burn baby burn’”.

The court heard Howden threatened to destroy the woman’s belongings and sent a number of texts containing “abusive language”.

Mr Price said the woman’s friend received messages on Facebook from Howden with one stating, “Answer the call you little c***” and another saying, “Answer or I’m coming”.

He said dad-of-one Howden and the woman had begun a relationship in December 2018.

Howden admitted sending her abusive messages and a video on February 10 and 11 2019 and to the woman’s pal on February 10 that year.

Defence agent Kenny Woodburn said the couple’s relationship was “well and truly over” and Howden hadn’t contacted the woman.

Sheriff John Cook deferred sentence on Howden, of the city’s Granton area, for six months for him to be of good behaviour.
