There is a less-than-scientific rule of thumb which says it takes at least 21 days to start feeling better after a break-up.
By my calculations, that means Jake Paul's heartbreak over his split with Tommy Fury should begin to ease by the end of this week.
But all indications are that the YouTube star has taken the separation badly.
Sure, he appeared to move on quickly by calling old flame Tyron Woodley within hours of being let down.
He promised it would be different this time and even threw in a $500,000 sweetener to tempt back his first love.
Woodley didn't need asking twice; he was planning to jump back on the horse anyway and agreed to give it another go.
But behind the facade, Paul was ticking off the stages of grief as quickly as the rest of us were opening our advent calendars.
He denied going back to Woodley was the easy option compared to patching things up with Fury the professional boxer.
He was angry with not just Tommy but with his brother Tyson and dad John for not giving them space to work on their relationship.
But then he bargained that if Fury reached 25-0 he'd leave the door unlocked and the kettle on.
And by last week it appeared depression was setting in.
One minute Paul was buying Woodley a Rolex, the next he was wearing a T-shirt telling Fury "this could have been you".
He also spent a big chunk of change dedicating his ringwalk outfit to his one true love.
