'Loves the club, Christensen is finished!' - Chelsea supporters baffled over David Luiz update

David Luiz has not had the best of seasons at Chelsea but the Brazilian defender is not about to up sticks and move away again.

Luiz infamously left Chelsea back in 2014 for Paris Saint-Germain before returning three years ago and helping the Blues to lift the Premier League title in the summer of 2017.

The central defender is still an outstanding passer of the ball from the back but is susceptible from a defensive standpoint at times.

Luiz still has a lot of quality, though, and had been linked with moves to Brazil and most notably China, with the latter reported to be a £34m contract offer.

But the 31-year-old is eager to remain at Stamford Bridge.

“I think so," Luiz told the Evening Standard last month when asked if he will still be at the club next season. "We are talking with the club. Everybody knows I love this club, I feel comfortable here and am happy here.

"I am doing my job very well so I think a lot is going to happen.

"I have the job best job in the world so I have to be motivated every single day. I love football, if I didn’t love football I would not be playing anymore."

The revelation that he will not be leaving this summer and is close to coming to terms on a new Chelsea deal provoked a very mixed response.

Some praised him for his commitment to the club despite poor form but others simply want him gone.
