'Lovely lad' - Tributes as body found in search for missing Fife man Keith MacGregor

A body has been recovered in the search for a missing 35-year-old Fife man, cops have said.

Police say the family of missing man Keith MacGregor had been informed after a body was discovered in woodland near Thornton.

Police Scotland officers in Fife had been searching the nearby area after he went missing from Kirkcaldy at around 3:30pm on Thursday (16 July).

MacGregor, from Rosyth, was last seen in Overton Mains in Kirkcaldy wearing an orange Rangers FC top, a rain jacket, denim jeans, Adidas trainers and was carrying a black Puma rucksack.

A police statement posted on Facebook read: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man was found today at woodland near Thornton.

"The family of missing person Keith MacGregor have been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."

Many locals took to the post to express sadness at the news.

One woman wrote: "My deepest condolences to his whole family, and I knew him very well, he was a lovely lad."

Another added: "So sorry to hear this he was a lovely young man our thoughts go to all his family."
