A drug dealing gang caught by police after the death of a 17-year-old girl at Leeds Festival have been jailed.
Luke Jones, 18, Joshua Yarwood, 20, and Sol Pegler, 21, all from Oldham, were convicted of a string of charges following an investigation by West Yorkshire Police.
It was prompted by the tragic death of teenager Anya Buckley, also from Oldham, from a suspected drugs overdose on August 24 2019 while attending the music festival.
An inquest heard Anya had MDMA, cocaine and ketamine in her system when she died.
West Yorkshire Police said the investigation into Anya's death revealed evidence that led to a number of men being charged with drug dealing offences.
A spokesperson at Leeds Crown Court confirmed Jones, of Lauren Close, Oldham, was sentenced to two years and eight months for conspiracy to supply a class A drug, namely MDMA.
Yarwood, of Clough Lane, Oldham, admitted conspiracy to supply a class A drug and was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He also admitted offering to supply a class B drug.
Yarwood must also complete 150 hours of unpaid work and ten Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days.
Pegler, of Highmoor View, Oldham, was sentenced for eight offences including conspiracy to supply class A drugs, possession of class A drugs and possession of class B drugs.
He was jailed for six years..
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jackson, who led the investigation, said: “Anya Buckley’s death at such a young age is an absolute tragedy that has left her family completely devastated. Our thoughts remain with them at what continues to be a very difficult time for them.
“Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death uncovered evidence that linked those convicted and sentenced to drugs supply offences.
“The dangers of taking illegal drugs and the serious risks associated with their use are sadly already very well documented, but we hope this case may serve as another stark reminder to young people of the terrible human consequences and criminal penalties that can result from the use and supply of drugs.”
Following Anya's death, her heartbroken friends paid tribute to her describing her as a 'beautiful angel'.
In an emotional post on Twitter, Alexandra Lovatt wrote: “Anya I would do anything just to speak to you one last time.
"I don't understand how something so horrible could happen to the most kindest and loving person I've met.
"I'm so grateful I had you in my life, so many people loved you and I wish you could see that. Fly high Anya. Love you forever and always. RIP beautiful."
Jessica McDermott also tweeted about her friend writing: "Rest in peace, my beautiful angel. What I would do to see you one last time."
