Love rats use working from home to hide affairs - and day most likely to cheat

Working from home is giving love rats the perfect cover for affairs, with Friday the most popular day to sneak off.

The change in routine means just 11% of love cheats have the excuse to disappear for a dirty weekend.

But they have been quick to seize on the flexibility of WFH, with 42% using the lie of “going to the office” as a chance to hook up with a lover.

A poll of people having affairs found more than a quarter choose Fridays for illicit romps, while one in five see Thursdays as the last chance for a liaison as the weekend looms.

The best day to believe your partner is actually doing what they say is Tuesday, with just 10% of cheats saying it’s a good day to stray.

And after “going to the office”, the gym is the next most popular lie – used by 29%. But a further 17% just claim they are off to the pub.

The survey of 2,000 members of illicitencounters.com, a dating site for married people, found less than a quarter feel guilty – although 97% say that would change if a partner suspected or found them out.

Site spokeswoman Jessica Leoni said: “The hybrid worker has become an opportunistic adulterer.

“It’s no surprise Fridays have taken over from dirty weekends, there’s no more solid alibi than going to work.”
