Love, Lies and Lemon Pies is about Lottie, a girl with more problems than meets the eye. The story also belongs to Mac, someone else with more problems than meets the eye!
Lottie and Mac join Bake Club, both to prove something to their head teacher, Mr Carroll. Although they start off tolerating Bake Club, soon they start to love it, and they develop a love for each other too.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. Although it was quite a classic romance story, the baking element definitely made it different and a lot better than I thought is would be! One thing I really loved was the recipes at the start of each chapter. These range from cookies to muffins to quiche and more, and all of the recipes looked great! If you wanted to, you could learn how to bake with Lottie and Mac and the rest of Bake Club, which I think is really cool! Although I didn't make any of the recipes while I was reading the book, I made a couple afterwards and they were positively delicious.
Lottie and Mac's relationship was written really well, and it was very realistic too. However, I felt that a couple of the other Bake Club members' problems were a little unbelievable – sorry! Some of them just seemed like they had made mountains into molehills.
All in all, I thought that this was a great book which was thoroughly enjoyable. I would recommend this book to all bakeaholics like me, or just to anyone wanting a great book. In my opinion this book gets 4 stars out of 5.
