'Love it mate' - Aston Villa's John Terry message to Swansea City's Conor Hourihane and the dressing room reaction which shows his spectacular impact

Swansea City have signed an absolute gem in Conor Hourihane.

The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international has arrived on loan until the end of the season after finding minutes at Aston Villa hard to come by.

He moved to SA1 earlier on this month and it is fair to say his impact has been instant.

He made his Swansea bow in the 5-1 demolition of Nottingham Forest last weekend and has scored two crucial goals in his two Championship appearances so far.

His dangerous free-kick against Brentford when Swansea were up against it secured a share of the spoils for Steve Cooper's men, and his majestic finish for the opener against Rotherham on Saturday was eye-catching to say the least.

A lovely lay-off from Yan Dhanda saw Hourihane lash a left-footed effort off the outside of his boot past Millers' keeper Jamal Blackman, who had no chance.

And it wasn't just the goal that impressed supporters, with Hourihane's all-round play a joy to watch. If Swansea are to continue their impressive promotion charge, you suspect the creative midfielder will be key to it.

He posted on Instagram after the game: "Big 3 points!! Topclass from everyone."

And it is in the responses to Hourihane's post that we really see the importance of the man.

The Swansea dressing room reaction is noteworthy, with Jamal Lowe, Matt Grimes and Jake Bidwell all praising the Irishman's performance.

A simple "boom" from Dhanda and Korey Smith's "toooo much tek" summed up the mood in the Swans camp.

And at his parent club, his displays aren't going unnoticed either.

Villa assistant coach John Terry replied "Love it mate", while current Villa players Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa also praised him, alongside former Villa men Ian Taylor, Gabby Agbonlahor and Alan Hutton, who couldn't get enough of Hourihane's finish.

Even Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp responded with the flames emoji.

It's not unusual for players to big-up their team-mates on social media after a top performance but the gusto of such messages illustrates that Hourihane has become a key player in just a few short weeks in Landore. And by all accounts he is just as class off the field as he is on it.

Swansea supporters will hope there is more to come in the months ahead.
