Manchester City fans were left pleasantly surprised after being paired with Sporting Lisbon in the second Champions League last-16 draw.
The first knockout stage had to be redone after a mix-up involving Manchester United caused the original set of fixtures, which saw City drawn against Villarreal, declared null and void.
A statement from UEFA said: "Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw."
Having now finally completed the draw, City were instead paired with Sporting, while United will face Atletico Madrid, Chelsea take on Lille, and Liverpool come up against Inter Milan.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich were drawn against RB Salzburg, Ajax against Benfica, Juventus with Villarreal, and Real Madrid with PSG.
And City fans were more than happy with the end result, with many believing they’ve been handed an easier tie this time around.
The last-16 ties will be played in February and March, with the first legs taking place on February 15/16 or 22/23, while the second legs will be played on March 8/9 or 15/16.
City will be aiming for a safe passage through to the quarter-finals as they chase their first Champions League crown, having fallen agonisingly short in last season’s final against Chelsea.
