Love Islanders turn on Gemma Owen after 'bad' Luca Bish slip-up amid explosive row

Love Island’s Gemma Owen is left out in the cold tonight on the ITV2 show after she makes a major slip-up with Luca Bish, who she’s currently coupled up with.

The 19-year-old reality star – who is the daughter of 42-year-old football legend Michael Owen – is one of the original contestants of the 2022 series of the ITV reality romance show.

Monday night’s episode teaser showed Gemma and Luca in the first row of the series as she called him a "p***k".

Things get heated between the pair around the fire pit, as the couple clash just days after her ex-boyfriend entered the villa.

Gemma admits to a "mistake" and suggests there is "nothing more to it", but Love Island heavily hints the faux pas is linked to Jacques.

But Love Island spoilers have now revealed the cause of the drama after Afia’s exit, as Gemma accidentally calls her new beau Luca by her ex’s name.

The Islanders gather in the kitchen with Luca hugging Gemma and as the couple embrace, Gemma suffers a slip of the tongue as she accidentally calls Luca by ex Jacques’ name.

Jacques is sitting directly next to them and the other Islanders are quick to comment on the situation.

Amber laughs: “Did you just call him something else?” before Luca says: “I know what she said.”

Amber responds: “Jacques?” and Dami joins the conversation, adding: “Oh my god, there is no way that happened, there is no way that happened!”

Having just coupled up with Jacques, Paige says: “Easy mistake to make, hun.”

Not long after Luca leaves the kitchen and walks off into the garden, Gemma asks the other Islanders: “That was bad wasn’t it?”

And her fellow Love Island contestants seem to agree that the 19-year-old made a major mistake, as Paige answers: “That was bad, I am not gonna lie, he was stood there, you had your guy rubbing your shoulders, he’s stood there and you’re like… ‘Oh Jacques.’”

In later scenes, Gemma pulls Luca for a chat to discuss what just happened – but this is when the fight teased last night will apparently take place. Will Luca be able to forgive and forget?

This comes as ITV2 viewers have aired a wild theory surrounding Gemma Owen and her casting in the latest series of the hit ITV2 dating show as her ex Jacques O’Neill entered the villa.

She was left in shock over the weekend at the arrival of her 23-year-old ex-boyfriend Jacques in the Love Island villa, with cameras capturing her gasp: “That’s my ex!” when the rugby star entered the show.

As fans have complained that Love Island appears to be transforming into ‘Gemma Island’, a number of ITV2 viewers have circulated a theory as to why the star is appearing on the show alongside her ex-boyfriend.

Love Island viewers took to Twitter during the latest episode of the show on Monday to suggest that producers wanted to clinch a famous relation on the show after the success of previous winner Dani Dyer, who revealed to fellow Islanders that she is EastEnders star Danny Dyer’s daughter.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
