Love Island winner Greg O'Shea didn't expect hundreds of fans to greet him at Shannon Airport homecoming

Love Island winner Greg O’Shea has said he only expected his family to be meeting him at the airport and not hundreds of fans.

The 24-year-old professional rugby player was met by screaming supporters of all ages as he touched down in Shannon Airport just before midday today.

It is his first time back in Ireland since winning the show last week with Amber Rose Gill.

The Limerick star said: “This is amazing.

“I thought it would only be family here. All of these people, this is bizarre.”

Greg said he has yet to ask Amber to be his girlfriend as he’d like to test the long distance relationship.

He said: “I’ve asked Amber about fifty times to [come back to Limerick] but she’s so busy.

“She’ll be coming soon but I can’t say when.”

And the Limerick man said it is a bit too early to know if Amber is “the one.”

Meanwhile, Greg revealed he is set to sit law exams in October and plans to get back training with his rugby team.

And he doesn’t want to spend his evenings getting paid for nightclub appearances saying it’s not his style.

Having won €25,000 the reality tv star said he will invest the money but will treat his parents to a nice meal.

But for tonight he just plans to catch up with family and friends at home.
