Love Island will definitely return to Scots TV screens this summer

Love Island will return to our television screens this summer as ITV announces a ‘bumper schedule’ for the coming months.

The hit ITV2 was one of many programmes to be rocked by the coronavirus pandemic after it was cancelled by producers over safety fears last year.

But the next group of singletons will be hitting up the Love Island villa later this year.

ITV made the announcement on the show earlier today as it revealed the next few months of entertainment - from the UEFA Euro 2020 Championships to The Masked Dancer.

Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of Media and Entertainment at ITV, said: “There’s so much to look forward to on ITV this spring and into summer, with the Euros and the return of Love Island, but much more besides.”

Bosses at the television company stopped short at announcing a date of the programme’s return and where this year’s edition will be held.

It has been speculated that producers may hold the programme elsewhere in the UK instead of its usual home in Majorca, Spain.

Travel restrictions imposed across the country mean that international travel is illegal under the current stay at home lockdown restrictions.

Today’s confirmation from ITV will be welcome news for fans, who have been patiently waiting over a year to see the popular reality show finally return to our screens.

The last series of Love Island saw Scotland’s own Paige Turley take home the win during the first ever winter version of the programme in 2020.

Paige, from West Lothian, became the first ever Scot to be crowned Love Island winner after she hooked up with current boyfriend Finn Tapp in the South African villa last year.
