Love Island: Why Niall Aslam reportedly quit the ITV2 reality series

The reason behind Love Island contestant Niall Aslam's sudden departure from the ITV2 reality series has reportedly been revealed.

Confusion reigned following his decision to quit the show because of “personal reasons” leaving viewers - as well as his fellow contestants - concerned for the fan favourite.

According to reports, it was stress induced by the 23-year-old's appearance on the show which led to Niall's departure, with a source telling Mail Online: “Niall left for personal reasons regarding himself only. He doesn’t deal well with stress or criticism and would hate to have situations where he’s involved in conflict publicised.

“It’s an emotionally stressful environment and he over worries to the point where he gets stressed.”

Another source added: “Duty of care is the most important consideration on shows like this and as soon as he felt unwell, ITV would have had a discussion with him about leaving. The decision they took would have been taken between all parties with Niall’s health being the only consideration.”

Additional reports suggested his quitting had something to do with insecurities he faced over his ears which he revealed in a VT ahead of his entry, explaining that he had undergone surgery to pin them back in 2017.

A representative for the show has refused to comment. The Independent has contacted Aslam for clarification.

Love Islandcontinued last night as fans rooted for Dr Alex to couple with Megan after she expressed doubts over her choice to couple with model Eyal Booker.
