Love Island: Why don't we see the islanders eating?

It seems like we get to see the Love Islanders 24/7 when we watch the show every day, but we never see them eating.

We get to see the contestants have the odd snack but what do they actually get up to during meal times and why is it not shown?

The cast have to prepare breakfast themselves which is why we sometimes see them eating a piece of toast or trying to fry an egg.

But, lunch and dinner aren’t filmed unless there is a couple going on a date.

This is because the islanders are observed at these times by behind-the-scenes staff to make sure each of them are eating a sufficient amount, according to Closer magazine.

The girls and boys are also separated at meal times as another way to make sure they are all eating enough.

The food is prepared for them by a private catering company, according to Hello magazine and they are always offered dessert with both lunch and dinner.

Amy Hart from series five revealed on This Morning last week that they could have cheesecake with every meal.

The contestants don’t have to wait until meal times to eat though, there are always snacks on offer.

You may have seen the cast snacking on fruit or ice lollies and that’s because there is a larder that is constantly refilled.

Apparently islanders can make requests for what snacks they want and they can ask for anything.

Popular choices also include chocolate, pizza and lasagne.

You may have also thought about how the cast break the ice when meeting each other, but alcohol is not the answer.

They are limited to one, and sometimes two drinks per night so they don’t make any silly decisions.

Even when they have special parties in the villa alcohol is still limited.
