Love Island villa struck by 'nasty stomach bug' with contestants and crew ill

A 'nasty stomach bug' has reportedly hit the Love Island villa. Industry sources have claimed some of the hit ITV reality dating show's stars and members of the production team have been struck down with illness.

They say the bug, which makes people sick with diarrhoea, has been making the rounds at the set in South Africa - just two weeks after the cast and crew rolled in. It's claimed the illness has been 'pretty rough' for some of those who have caught the bug, reported The Mirror.

A TV source reportedly claimed: "Love Island might look very sexy on the television but behind the scenes there has been a bug going around. As well as rushing to the Beach Hut for a chat, the islanders have also been dashing off to use the loo."

They added to The Sun: "It has torn its way through the set and the aftermath has been less than appealing. The bug has certainly given all the islanders a dose of reality."

Meanwhile, on last night's episode (Jan 30), things got more complicated for semi-pro footballer Tom Clare as his secret kiss with Ellie Spence was revealed. Tom, 23, continued to pursue a connection with 27-year-old actress Olivia Hawkins and new bombshell Samie Elishi, 22.

However, word spread about his secret kiss with Ellie, 25, on the terrace the night before after she confided in fellow Islander Will Young, 23, about it. Discussing her relationship with Tom, Ellie told Will: “It’s funny because we had a little kiss on the terrace but I feel like I can’t go to the girls about it because obviously that’s going to go around.

"And I can’t go to really any of the other boys about it as that will go around. And obviously it’s getting to that point now where I don’t want to keep putting in groundwork with Tom if it’s not reciprocated."

Later on, Will spilled the beans about Ellie's kiss while talking to partner Jessie Wynter and Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad. He said: "I got told a little bit of information and I don’t know what to do with it."

He continued: "So basically, Ellie pulled me today and basically said yesterday that she kissed Tom out on the terrace." The other islanders were in shock at the revelation and urged him to get Ellie to tell Olivia about it.
