Love Island villa 'put under quarantine' as norovirus sweeps through the crew

The Love Island villa is under quarantine after a number of crew members have been struck down by a vomiting bug.

According to Mirror Online , the producers of the popular ITV2 dating show are on high alert and doing everything they can to stop the virus entering the villa.

An insider told The Sun : "If the virus reaches the contestants then it could bring the show to a halt for three or four days.

"Nobody is going to watch them throwing up or having the s***s."

Workers on the show, including hairstylists, are suffering from stomach cramps and violent sickness so severe that they had to remain "within seconds of a toilet" at all times.

Medical professionals are trying to find out where the virus came from and ordering those with the virus to remain in their hotel rooms until they are fully recovered.

Producers might hire a local crew to fill the vacancies until everyone has recovered.

Sanitation points and hand wash stations have also been installed around the villa, and staff have been given medical packs to prevent the spread of the illness.

Members of the crew have also been warned against shaking hands and kissing, as these are ways for the norovirus to spread.

The source added: "Everything is being done to quarantine the villa from the outside world so the bug doesn’t get in.

"There was a similar crisis in Season One so people know what to do."

Ollie Williams recently quit the show (ITV)

This isn't the first time the show has been in the news, after contestant Ollie Williams met with a lot of online anger after pictures of him posing with dead animals emerged.

He has since left the villa, telling his fellow islanders that he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend.

Some people theorise that he really left because of the trophy hunting backlash - but bosses insist he wasn't aware of the reports and chose to leave for the reasons stated.
