Love Island viewers trolled for Monday night TV choice amid other excitement

The fan-favourite dating series, Love Island, returned on Monday night with viewers tuning in to meet 11 new contestants as they coupled up for the first time.

Irish Laura Whitmore resumed presenting duties with her husband, Iain Stirling, providing hilarious narration of the drama so far.

But as the first couples of 2021 were decided, many took to Twitter trolling anyone - male or female - who opted to watch Love Island over the nail-biting action between France and Switzerland.

Kicking off the conversation was none other than Piers Morgan who wrote; “People are actually watching Love Island rather than the football tonight. I never want to meet those people.”

Morgan’s comment brought an onslaught of trolling to Love Island fans, with one person writing; “I feel for any lad that’s being forced to watch love island over this game, what a night of football.”

Another chimed and wrote; “The ad clips are enough to make my remote change the channel itself.”

A third said; “Any bloke watching love island over this night of football needs their head and hard drive looking at.”

A number of fans of the show began to voice their opinion with one writing; “ Personally think bars and pubs should air Love Island just like they do football.”

Another said; “Would choose endless Love Island coverage any day over football..just sayin’.”

Love Island returns tonight at 9 pm on ITV and Virgin Media One and is set to pick up with a major twist for the islanders with the surprise entry of Chloe Burrows.
