Love Island viewers think Jake looked 'relieved' after being dumped by Liberty

Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish shocked the villa on Thursday night's episode of Love Island as the pair split just days before the final.

The former couple, who have been together since day one of the ITV2 dating series, called quits on their relationship after the Brummie babe feared she had gave the 24-year-old 'the ick' due to her untidy way.

Following a tearful conversation with Faye Winter, the 21-year-old ended things with the water engineer, telling him: "I hope you find someone that suits you better."

As Love Island viewers watched the emotional scenes, many noticed how Jake appeared to be 'relieved' as the blonde beauty walked away from their romance.

Taking to social media following Thursday night's show, fans pointed out that the tattooed islander didn't seem phased by being dumped with the final just around the corner.

"Nah Jake looks relieved. I think I need to challenge him to a duel. #LoveIsland," tweeted one fan, with another writing: "Wait Jake looks relieved this is sad to watch."

A third viewer quipped: "I'm not even surprised at how unbothered he is ... It's almost as if Jake is relieved, like man was smiling?!!! #LoveIsland"

One fan of the show commented on how the original islander often seemed to make the marketing student "feel unwanted".

"Ive seen some strange things in my time but that was by far the strangest," they began their analysis.

"Jake was not even a***d in the slightest that he’s made her feel unwanted and he almost seemed relieved that she wanted to separate #LoveIsland"

In happier times, Liberty and Jake were once favourites to be crowned the winners of this year's series and take home the £50,000 cash prize.

The former favourites fell from grace with the voting public with viewers suspecting 24-year-old Jake of faking his feelings for the blonde bombshell, as well as trying to sabotage other couples in the villa in a bid to nab the cash prize.

Earlier this week, the pair were outsiders to win the show - with generous odds of 12/1.

On Thursday night, viewers watched Liberty cry as she feared Jake had 'the ick' with her because she was untidy, going on to confess to Faye that she didn't think her and her boyfriend were right for each other.

She said: "If I'm not making him happy I don't wanna be in this relationship. All I can do is be me. I can't be fake, I can't pretend I am happy when I am not.

Later in the episode, the Birmingham-born islander returned the bracelet Jake had once given her - an ultimate sign that their time as a couple was over.

As Liberty tried to dump her boyfriend, Jake stated he didn't even want to consider splitting up, before going on to agree with her and making the joint decision to end things.

"Don't be silly... I'm sorry that you've ever felt like that and it's something I need to work on in the future," he said as Liberty urged him to find someone who suits him better.
