Love Island 2019 viewers spotted an awkward moment between Molly-Mae Hague and co-star Maura Higgins on the ITV2 dating series on Wednesday.
The pair were discussing new boy Greg O’Shea who arrived in the villa following his date with Amber Gill.
Amber dropped a confession on them that they weren’t expecting, as she talked of her time in the Hideaway with the newcomer.
She revealed her love of the Irish accent, with Maura asking her: “Really?”
It’s then that Molly-Mae made a claim that left some viewers a little stunned.
As Irish stunner Maura shared her surprise over Amber liking the accent, Molly said: “On a guy it’s different.”
She appeared to be suggesting that she believes a man’s Irish accent is more attractive than that of a woman.
While some viewers weren’t buying it, others took the comment as a dig to Maura who herself has a strong Irish accent.
Taking to Twitter , they began questioning if Molly-Mae was being “shady” to her so-called pal.
One fan said: “Molly Mae saying 'it’s different with a man though' when talking about the Irish accent. So what you saying about Maura’s then?”
Another tweeted: “Did anyone else hear Maura go to Amber ‘so you like the Irish accent then’ and Molly Mae goes ‘its sounds different on boys’ and literally no one noticed hahahahah savage.”
A third agreed: “Molly Mae is SHADY @ Maura’s accent ‘it’s different on a man’.”
This was echoed by another fan who said: “Lol molly needs to chill with these snide remarks.”
Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
