Love Island viewers get 'the ick' after seeing Brett's fisherman sandals

Love Island viewers have complained they couldn't help but get 'the ick' after noticing contestant Brett's fisherman sandals.

During last night's episode, Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland were confirmed to be the couple with the fewest votes and ordered to leave the villa immediately.

Despite the shock double elimination, some fans joked they were too busy looking at the shoes on PhD student Brett's feet to notice the elimination.

The Islander donned a white jacket, loose brown trousers as well as fisherman sandals.

Viewers immediately took to social media to question his bold outfit choice.

"why tf is brett wearing the jesus 100's, his shoes bulky asf," one user questioned.

Another added: "I try so hard to have Brett’s back and then he wears shoes like that."

"Brett's shoes were definitely reminiscent of the 90s jelly sandals," another commented.

One user compared his shoes to Jesus and said: "guess Brett won't need to get a flight home. He can walk on the water with those shoes."

Other viewers complained that Priya and Brett's exit was hardly shocking given that they had only a few days to get to each other as a couple in comparison to the long-term couples they were up against.

Priya possibly sealed her fate on the show after telling others in the previous episode that she wasn't that into Brett, with the public vote then opening after that episode.

The medical student described holding hands with her villa partner as "like holding hands with my dad" and brutally told other islanders that she "had the ick".

During Sunday night's episode, the Islanders were told to vote in their couples who they believed to be the least compatible pairing.

Those with the fewest votes would be at risk of being dumped, while the result rested on the public vote which was announced on last night.

Other couples at risk included Faye and her partner Teddy Soares, Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish and Mary Bedford and Aaron Simpson.

In the first video after they left the villa, Brett was all about shooting his shot as he tried to score a date on the outside, but the medical student awkwardly confirmed it would just be a friendship date.

And in his exit interview, the model once again made it clear he was after to be more than friends in the real world.

He described meeting her as a "pleasure" and said: "I would love to keep getting to know her and date her properly, but equally I’d need a different dynamic. I’d need more from her, I need effort from her.

"I want her to plan stuff. Even just a simple thing like a run and coffee date. Just so it feels that reassurance that she also wants to be there and do stuff with me."

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
