Love Island viewers freaked out by 'stare' that Joe gave Lucie

It was meant to be a romantic moment, as Lucie Donlan chose to return to the arms of Joe Garratt during the first re-coupling of this year's Love Island, but some fans had a different view.

Surfer Lucie had been caught up in a love triangle after being swept off her feet by Manchester boxer Tommy Fury, the brother of Tyson Fury.

However in Friday night's re-coupling she picked Joe.

When Lucie sat back down by the fire pit and breathed a sigh of relief, it didn't go unnoticed that Joe couldn't take his eyes off her, and fans took to social media to comment.

One fan thought Joe needs to 'chill' (ITV)

"NAHHH did anyone else catch that stare Joe gave Lucie when they sat down..." tweeted one viewer.

"Joe needs to chill," said another.

"Joe be shooting looks," commented another Love Island fan.

There were twists and turns in the re-coupling, as one Islander was ditched from the ITV2 dating show after the first five days in Mallorca.

Lucie made her decision (ITV)

Aircraft engineer Callum Macleod was coupled up with Amber Gill when the show returned to our screens for a fifth series on Monday, but the pair didn't hit it off romantically.

In a plot twist, Amber chose Anton Danyluk and Callum was dumped from the island.

On Love Island, which sends a new batch of singletons to Mallorca every summer, Islanders must couple up in order to secure their place in the villa.

Tommy and Lucie on their date (ITV2)

Tommy, who 'stole' Lucie from Joe as a late arrival, was picked by newcomer Molly-Mae Hague who is also from Manchester.

Sparks flew after the couple enjoyed a date in a hot tub, paving the way for Lucie to return to sandwich maker Joe.
