Love Island USA's Kyra Green discusses sexuality saying 'first love was a girl'

Love Island USA star Kyra Green has spoken out about her sexuality in the first night of the reality show.

The 22-year-old musician from Harlem in New York, who now lives in Los Angeles, has hinted that she may look to couple up with a girl in the villa after admitting that her 'first love was with another woman'.

Kyra was the last of 11 islanders to arrive in the new villa in Fiji, and will have to split one of the newly formed couples so that she has a partner of her own.

Speaking in the villa though, it seems that Kyra may look to couple up with a girl, after revealing to fellow islander Yamen Sanders that she had been in a same-sex relationship for two years.

Katie Salmon and Sophie Gradon are the only same sex pairing to have coupled up so far in the British version on Love Island, back in season two, but it seems that Kyra may look to follow this route.

Speaking to People before entering the villa, Kyra is hoping that viewers in the United States will accept whichever decision she makes regarding who her partner will be in the villa.

She said: "I feel like honestly people are a little bit more free in the UK version, and more open to certain things.

"Like, I’m bisexual and I’ve had relationships with girls and guys. I just hope everyone can be themselves and America is supportive."

Kyra revealed that her relationships in the past have seen her fall in love with both sexes.

She continued: "My first love was with a girl, but recently, when I moved out to LA, I fell in love with a guy.

"A package delivery guy that my sister is really good friends with, actually. So I’ve been in love with both, but my first love was with a girl.”

Speaking about who she will pursue in the villa, Kyra has said that she is going to keep her options open.

She said: "I feel like at the end of the day, you have to go in and just put yourself out there.

"I feel like when anyone goes in there and they try to be something that they’re not, or they try to play the game, everyone can see it on the outside...

"So I’m just going to go in and be myself and not try to force anything."

*Love Island (UK version) airs all week at 9pm on ITV2. Love Island USA airs weeknights at 8pm ET on CBS.
