New lingo has entered the Love Island USA villa as the islanders find discreet ways to speak about sex on television.
As relationships between the season eight stars have been growing, some contestants have turned up the heat while sharing beds in the group’s sleeping quarters — and Kenzie Annis and Corbin Mims caught some attention during Sunday’s episode of Peacock’s hit dating show.
After the cast was seen reacting to suspicious noises in the night, contestant Trinity Tatum did not hesitate to bring it up the next morning as she asked the women in the dressing room who had been doing “French fries.”
Kenzie then admitted that she and Corbin had been to blame for the noises. “I was definitely getting some French fries. Feeling good,” she said in a confessional. “We were probably doing a bit much, honestly, but I feel a strong connection with Corbin. And we probably got a little bit carried away.”
Trinity later told Kenzie that she wanted to make some moves with her then-partner, Bryce Dettloff, but so far “it was just one little french fry.”
The cast members did not specifically state the implied meaning of “French fries,” it does not require too much thinking — it likely refers to manual or oral sex.
As one Reddit user wrote in a thread dedicated to the show: “They usually come up with code words for the different levels of hooking up so they can say it on tv without being explicit.”
On the show, narrator Iain Stirling joked that it would not stop viewers from being curious, saying: “I foresee that, in approximately 30 seconds, millions of Americans will Google: ‘French fries sex.’”
This is not the first time that Love Island USA contestants have come up with slang to speak about their nighttime activities.
Last year, season seven stars like Huda Mustafa and Cierra Ortega spoke about the “journeys” they took with their partners, with star Hannah Fields confirming to Us Weekly after the show: “We had a code name for intimacy. We would say, ‘How was your journey? What was this journey like?’ Huda [started it when she] said something like, ‘Oh, I had a journey. My journey went all the way.’”
On Love Island UK, contestants use breakfast foods to speak secretly about sex, with a “full English breakfast” meaning that a couple has gone “all the way.”
New episodes of Love Island USA air on Peacock each night except for Wednesdays.
