Love Island to take applications from Tinder in casting shakeup

Love Island will return this summer but this year bosses are changing how hopefuls can apply.

For the very first time, those who are looking for love and want to appear on the ITV series can apply using Tinder’s dating app.

Singletons can submit their dating profiles to be reviewed by the Love Island casting directors, the Mirror reports.

Producers are still keeping details about the show under wraps but with this new way of applying it seems the Love Island team are casting the net far and wide for contestants.

The way that the new Tinder casting call works is that app users will receive a swipe card in between their stack of potential matches.

Should the users swipe right, then their profile will be immediately submitted to the Tinder team for review.

Certain profiles will then be contacted by Tinder and added to a 'priority list' which guarantees that their profile will go in front of the Love Island casting team.

Simon Daglish, of ITV, said: "We love when brands like Tinder couple up with our programmes and it's a perfect partner for the hugely anticipated return of Love Island this summer.

"This is the first time we've worked with a dating app in this way and I'm sure Tinder members will be excited to get involved with the show."

Aside from submitting their Tinder profiles, hopeful Love Island contestants can also apply through the ITV website.

The show's casting directors also scour social media in the hunt for potential Love Island star's whose personalties shine through and capture their attention.

Contestants must be 18 or over and be a singleton looking for love for a chance to get onto the show.

Applicants must also be exclusively available for a minimum of ten weeks filming.
