Love Island third place couple revealed as Demi and Luke M in live final

He's the boy that many people wanted to win for weeks so there was some disappointment that Luke Mabbott only finished third in the Love Island final.

Since going in as a late arrival a few weeks into the new series, Redcar lad Luke has been a form favourite with many viewers, with a number of memes dedicated to him and the fact he deserved to win.

He's didn't have the easiest of times in the villa, with the path of true love not running smoothly at all after knock backs from Jess and Natalia before finding a spark with Demi after Nas dumped her.

Sunday's Love Island final aired live on ITV, with the show dedicated to former presenter Caroline Flack, following her death last weekend. Caroline was also the subject of a touching video tribute which featured some of her best bits from the villa.

Following that, host Laura Whitmore revealed that Jess and Ched had finished fourth in the public vote before announcing that Luke and Demi had placed third.

When quizzed on their romantic future outside of the villa, Demi told Laura they already had plenty of dates planned, before adding that Luke had promised her some wardrobe space in his Redcar home, to which Laura joked "Wardrobe space? It took me a while to get that!"

Reacting to Luke and Demi's exit, one fan tweeted: "kinda p****d that luke m and demi came third n not first," and another posted: "Awwww well done to Demi and Luke M. They were both such lovely people individually. Really kind and genuine."
